Because when you were once eating a loaf of bread a day and now all of a sudden you’ve found Keto and cut that out along with biscuits, doughnuts and pizza, the weight is now coming off, it’s a miracle 🙌🏻
Don’t be an idiot. Look closer. The miracle is, there is no miracle. You have cut out thousands of calories from your day and to boot you have dropped water weight.
Carbohydrates are stored in the muscle as glycogen, for every gram of glycogen stored, you gain approximately 2.7 grams of water.
So, no carbs, no glycogen, no water. You get immediate gratification from what you see on the scales.
Remember this, water weight is not fat loss! So that big drop on the scales is not all fat, it could be no fat at all, just water weight loss.
One more caveat is you can very easily put on weight when on a low carb / keto diet. You making up for those carbs you’re not having by eating more fats will do the job, as fats are higher in calories.
If the cutting out of carbs causes you to achieve a calorie deficit then yes you will lose body fat. But ask yourself, what is a life without doughnuts, pizza and pancakes?
