Have you recently recently joined the gym, or have you heard all the hype about the benefits of weight training and you’ve decided to try it out.
You’re probably asking yourself ‘should I do high reps with light weights or low reps with heavy weights?!’
Bear in mind that not all reps are created equal!
Reps of 8+ to are those with the most hypertrophic (muscle growth) potential. The reps you do when feeling that burn sensation (lactic acid) is gasoline on the fire in terms of muscle growth.
Also you need to be in a calorie surplus to get bigger, your body can’t just magic up size!
If strength is the goal then concentrate on spending more of your time performing low reps with heavy loads.
This is going to increase the efficiency of the muscle.
Now there is a correlation between the two, low reps will build a little muscle and high reps will build a little strength.
