Concurrent training is what so many people do when they visit the gym. You might be one of these people?! When you go on the treadmill, sweat it out and then finish off with a few weight exercises. Or the other way round.
The reason it’s not optimal to do this in your gym sessions is that it will illicit something called the interference effect.
When performing cardio and weights together the interference effect will blunt muscle growth. All the time you are doing this type of training session you are driving with the handbrake on, in terms of muscle growth.
Try separating the days on which you do your cardio and weights or leave several hours between these sessions, to help you get the most out of muscle growth.
