Most people will take on too much when trying to implement a health regime.
January 1st or an office fitness challenge will come around and people will really go for it. We are talking gym 7 times a week, combined with some horrendous, obscure diet where you cut out all the foods you like.
This usually goes wrong as; you try this and then don’t see results quickly because you don’t know what you’re doing, so you give up. Maybe you break from your over exuberant routine by missing a workout or you eat a food/meal that you deem bad, tell yourself you’ve failed and throw in the towel. Sound familiar??
Trying to implement it all at once is admirable but, it’s going to be nigh on impossible. You are aiming to form good habits, this requires focus, this focus is unlikely to be there when you are trying to spin lots of plates at the same time. Focusing on one change that will form positive habits, this will give you the best chance of success.
Your first step could be something along the lines of portion control or substituting high calorie snacks/drinks for lower calorie ones. Then once you’ve formed this habit you could move onto the next change, like increasing the amount of time you exercise per week.
Small steps people, there is no rush!
